A Winter Day on Stingray Point

February 10, 2001. I took a break a short time ago and walked to the water. The day is sunny but the wind is blowing cold out of the northwest.

Looking up the Rappahanock with Windmill Point on the right (north) and Clyde's dock in foreground - whitecaps are building.

I expect winter will have another shot at us before spring arrives.

Our view of the Chesapeake Bay. Nearest land is 17 miles east of here.

This big pine tree is a landmark -- on clear days, it's visible for miles from the water.

Several bald eagles live here - we see them more often in winter and early spring.

One of their favorite spots is the pine tree on the end of Stingray Point.

View from end of Elizabeth's dock - our cottage is tucked away in the trees.
Tack & Gybe celebrate their first birthday on February 14th -- Valentine's Day.

When we adopted them from the shelter, they weighed four pounds. They weigh about 50-55 pounds now.

They are beautiful, affectionate easy-going dogs.

When we came back from the water, Gybe retrieved a bone she hid earlier.

Uh-oh, here comes Tack.

Tack's favorite toys are pinecones - never pinecone shortage on Stingray Point.

I took these photos with a little Palm Pix digital camera that attaches to the Palm Pilot - neat gadget.

It's 1:40 pm, time to get back to work on the book. Pete has been working on it for hours - and he's talking about taking a break. Hmmm.

Bye from Pam
