Program Description
One-day special education law and advocacy programs focus on five
areas:

education law, rights and responsibilities
- McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act
- tests
and measurements to measure progress & regression
- SMART
IEPs
- introduction
to tactics & strategies for effective advocacy
Wrightslaw
programs are designed to meet the needs of parents, educators,
health care providers, advocates and attorneys who represent children
with disabilities regarding special education. The program is not
disability specific.

Credits: 6.0 CLEs (continuing legal education) credits are approved through the State Bar of Georgia. 5.5 CEUs (continuing education units) are approved through the Georgia Southern University's continuing education program.

Scholarships: Scholarships open to Georgia alternative High School students ages 15-19. Free admission to the event for student and one parent. Free lunch for student and a parent and a free set of books. Scholarship receipients will be notified on Friday, February 8, 2019. Download the flyer for additional information.
