Program Description


One-day special education law and advocacy programs focus on four areas:

  • special education law, rights and responsibilities
  • tests and measurements to measure progress & regression
  • SMART IEPs
  • introduction to tactics & strategies for effective advocacy

Wrightslaw programs are designed to meet the needs of parents, educators, health care providers, advocates and attorneys who represent children with disabilities regarding special education. The program is not disability specific.

Credits: 0.6 CEU's (continuing education units) have been approved for this conference. The units are provided by the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Education. They provide both graduate credit for practicing teachers and CEU's for a variety of professionals who need to document their professional development hours. The CEU's are available for an additional charge of $24. A certificate of attendence will be available for CLEs (continuing legal education).

Free to the first 100 cars and $5 per car thereafter.

Hotel Accommodations

The sponsors have secured a special rate with the Thunderbird Executive Inn of $119 per night. Guests are responsible for making their own reservations and payment for sleeping rooms, incidentals and all related costs. A block of rooms are set aside and you will not be able to register online as their website notes that they are full. You will need to call Thunderbird direct at (602) 978-7987, and explain that you are attending our program and hopefully some rooms will still be available. The discount rate ends on February 15, 2017. Please note the hotel's check-in time is 4:00 pm and check-out time is 11:00 am.
