Wrightslaw Special Education Law and Advocacy Conference, a Wrightslaw training program featuring Pete Wright, Esq., is being sponsored by Education for Parents of Indian Children with Special Needs. This is a Pre-Academy session kicking off the 10th Annual Family Leadership Academy which runs from March 21 through March 23, 2013.

Program Description


One-day special education law and advocacy programs focus on four areas:

  • special education law, rights and responsibilities
  • tests and measurements to measure progress & regression
  • SMART IEPs
  • introduction to tactics & strategies for effective advocacy

Wrightslaw programs are designed to meet the needs of parents, educators, health care providers, advocates and attorneys who represent children with disabilities regarding special education. The program is not disability specific.

Logistics, Directions, Accommodations

From Santa Fe:
Take St. Francis Drive North.
St. Francis becomes Highway 84/285-- continue for approximately fourteen miles.
Take exit #177 (Buffalo Thunder Road) and turn right into the Buffalo Thunder Resort.

From Albuquerque (bypassing downtown Santa Fe):
Take Interstate 25 North towards Santa Fe for approximately 50 miles.
From Interstate 25 exit right onto the 599 Northbound Bypass for approximately 14 miles and exit onto US Highway 84/285 North towards Espanola/Taos.
Continue on Highway 84/285 for approximately 11 miles.
Take Exit #177 at Buffalo Thunder Road and turn right into the resort.
