Special Education Law & Advocacy Training, a Wrightslaw training program with Pete Wright and Pam Wright, is being sponsored by Voices for Independence, ARC of Erie County, Down Syndrome Group of Erie County, Northwestern Pennsylvania Autism Society of America, Elderkin Law Firm and the Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council.

Program Description

This full day special education law and advocacy program will focus on four areas:

  • Special education law, rights and responsibilities
  • Tests and measurements to measure progress & regression
  • SMART IEPs
  • Introduction to tactics & strategies for effective advocacy

Wrightslaw programs are designed to meet the needs of parents, educators, health care providers, advocates and attorneys who represent children with disabilities regarding special education. The program is not disability specific.

Directions

Erie Airport: Turn right out of the airport onto 12th street. Turn left onto Peach Street (6 miles). Go north on Peach to second right, turn right onto 10th Street. The Avalon is on the corner.

From I-79: Take I-79 north to exit 183A. East on 12th Street (2 miles) turn left on Peach Street. Go north to second light, turn right onto 10th Street.

From I-90: Take I-90 to the I-79 interchange. Take I-79 north and follow above directions.

From I-86: Take I-86 to I-90 west. Take I-90 to the I-79 interchange. Take I-79 north and follow above directions.
