Wrightslaw Special Education Law and Advocacy Training

The Wrightslaw Special Education Law and Advocacy Training program is being hosted by the North Penn Special Education Council.

Program Description

This Wrightslaw Special Education Law and Advocacy program will focus on four areas:
  • Special education law, rights and responsibilities
  • Tests and measurements to measure progress & regression
  • SMART IEPs
  • Introduction to tactics & strategies for effective advocacy
You will learn about key changes in IDEA 2004 including:
  • New requirements for initial evaluations, reevaluations, parental consent
  • New requirements for measurable IEP goals, IEP teams, revising IEPs
  • New eligibility issues for students with specific learning disabilities
  • New procedural requirements and timelines including the Due Process Complaint Notice and Resolution Session
Wrightslaw programs are designed to meet the needs of parents, educators, health care providers, advocates and attorneys who represent children with disabilities regarding special education. The program is not disability specific. Download Conference Flyer & Registration Form

Your registration fee includes two books, Wrightslaw: IDEA 2004 and Wrightslaw: From Emotions to Advocacy, 2nd Edition (a $35 retail value), conference materials, continental breakfast, box lunch, and a certificate of attendance. Registration Form

Note: While the deadline for mail-in and onlilne registrations has passed, walk-in registration is permitted. Bring the completed registration form with you and a check payable to the North Penn Special Education Council in the proper amount. First come, first served. 6 hours ACT 48 for educators - See the conference brochure for details.

6 hours CLE for attorneys - Approved for 6 credit hours by the PA State Bar. Attorneys can submit the course material and fee to their state Bar or CLE board.
