What are your dreams – for yourself, your children, your family?
As this new school year begins, take a moment to think about this question before you read on. You might want to list a half dozen or so on a piece of paper.
Now, eliminate or revise dreams that are focused mainly on what others should do -- “I dream that [my child's teacher, the IEP team, the school, my spouse, my child, etc.] will do such-and-such…”
What’s left? What prevents us from living our dreams? If we believe that we are helpless, or that success depends upon what others do, we are in a box.
If you are like most parents, you dream that your child will be prepared to lead a productive, independent life. Good special education services are intensive and expensive. Resources are limited. If you have a child with special needs, you need information, skills and tools. We can help.

Looking Ahead
Wrightslaw WebEx Training programs will be available next week!
Since these programs are recorded, you play them as you play movies. You can pause, rewind, fast forward, and review the program or any part of it, as often as you like. You can focus on important concepts. You can study when your schedule permits, when you are less likely to be distracted.
What is the best format for you?
Some of you would like to download the training program onto your computer. Others would rather have the program stored on a CD-ROM.
That's why we designed the training programs in two formats.
- Download (available immediately). Your download link is on your confirmation receipt.
- CD-ROM that will be mailed to you.
Decide which format suits you best. We'd like to hear which format you would choose.

Coursebooks Available |
Now that you've previewed the program, you know how important it is to have the coursebooks. Pete will have you making margin notes, highlighting information, and jotting down tips in your books as you complete the training program.
Get your yellow highlighter ready!
Parts 1 and 2 of the Law programs use Wrightslaw: Special Education Law, 2nd. Edition as the required coursebook. You will need a copy of this book as Pete goes over key statutes and regulations and directs your attention to critical footnotes throughout the book.
Parts 3 and 4 of the advocacy related programs use Wrightslaw: From Emotions to Advocacy, 2nd Edition as the required coursebook. Pete will discuss specific concepts contained in various pages and have you look up critical items that will improve your advocacy skills.
If you already have copies of these Wrightslaw books, that's fine. You'll be able to use them when you complete the training programs.
If you don't have a copy now, both books will be on sale as a combination package with the training programs. Don't worry. You can order the Wrightslaw WebEx Training combo in one simple step.
Ready, Set.... for Wrightslaw WebEx Training, next week will be time to GO! |
