Smart
Kids Award winners will be honored at a Smart Kids with Learning Disabilities
cocktail reception and dinner at the Stamford Marriott on Thursday, June 15, 2006.
Peter
and Pamela Wright, who together created the Wrightslaw
special education website, will receive the 2006 Smart Kids Community Service
Award. Mr. Wright is a nationally renowned attorney with dyslexia who has represented
hundreds of children with disabilities.
Mark
Griffin, Ph.D. and Rayma Griffin, M.Ed., the headmaster and director of Admissions
and Placement, respectively, of Eagle Hill School in Greenwich, CT, will receive
the 2006 Smart Kids Professional Achievement Award.
David
Neeleman of New Canaan, CT CEO of JetBlue Airways and Smart Kids
Honorary chairman will present the third annual Smart Kids Youth Achievement
Award to Walter Joseph Kasura II of Glenwood, MD, for accomplishments in the science
and practice of firefighting and for contributions to his local fire station.
The
event, beginning at 6:30 pm, includes a Chinese auction plus a silent
auction featuring a weeks stay at a private 4-bedroom vacation home on the
West Shore of Lake Tahoe. For
