Nick: Is anyone aware of relevant law/regulation (Federal or Massachusetts) regarding the use of video recording for the purposes of assessment (e.g., FBA) and/or treatment (e.g., student gets to watch their own behavior and learn appropriate alternatives)?
Great question! I am also in Massachusetts and now wondering the same. I had actually never considered that until now..
Does anyone know if Minnesota has a law against video taping a sped student’s behavior and sharing it with an expert? Does there have to be written an signed form from a parent in order to do this?
As far as I know, NH just implemented a no videotaping without school board approval, but Massachusetts hasn’t. Video modeling is actually a very effective tool to help students, particularly ones on the Autism Spectrum, learn new skills.
