Antoinette: Can a school deny a child who has a mental or physical issue who NEEDS transportation (who would not make it to school on their own) because of how CLOSE or FAR they live to the school. We are a walking district in PA.

Antoinette: There are many reasons why children cannot walk to and from school. Some children have physical disabilities, others get lost or run away, others are too young.
If you can describe your child’s disabilities or limitations that prevent him from walking to and from school, we may be in a better position to help. How does he get to school now? Is a professional involved with your child? (MD, psychologist, etc)
If a professional is involved, ask the professional to write a short letter to the school that explains why your child can’t or shouldn’t walk to school and what assistance he requires.
