Transportation: DENIED TRANSPORTATION IN IEP

Share

Eva Veronica: My daughter is in preK. She has multiple issues and she recently had an IEP. The school district recommended speech 5 times a week, PT 3 times a week, visual accommodations and an extended school year. However, they did not write in transportation and said they would not provide transportation since they do not provide it to any preschooler. What are my options? I cannot take off work that often to take her to therapy and she will go another year without it.

  1. The district should provide this, but convincing them of this may be the issue. Communicate with the special ed office. Use the letter writing techniques that Wrightslaw discusses in their current newsletter. You may need to use the state dispute resolution processes. Your state parent training & information center can assist you. http://www.parentcenterhub.org/find-your-center/
