Debbie: Can a para provide pull out support/instruction independently? The law states they need direct supervision- does that mean Sped teacher has to be physically in the class or overseeing the lessons and curriculum being used.

Can a para work in a room with Special Education students without a certified teacher?
Depends on your state rules, & the specific circumstances.
My son’s IEP stated whether a tutor or an aide would work with him. If you have this specified in the IEP this is easy. You need to tell whoever if giving you the PARA and give your child what he or she is supposed to receive.
