Kimberly: My son has an IEP coming up and my ex husband has requested to bring his new partner to the IEP. I do not believe it is necessary for her to come and would rather her not be there. Do I have any rights or say in this matter?

This is rather distracting for all parties involved. One would hope that the partner would rather, out of respect, not attend the PPT. With that being said, you should take the higher road and focus on the meeting and not allow the partner’s presence to rattle you. There is also a goal of collaboration between your ex, school personnel and you, yourself. The only person you can control is yourself. Your child’s education is too important to allow the behaviors of others to distract you.
