Lucy: My son has autism. the school amended his IEP without including me. the dates on the iep are wrong and the goals accommodations were changed. The iep was completley different in tone and was written to suggest he has conduct disorder. The school turned us in for truancy even though they knew my son was absent due to disability. The school provided social services and prosecutor with this amended IEP and the result was My child was placed in a group home for two weeks. My son was handcuffed and shackled, treated like a kid who just didnt want to listen or go to school. what do I do now?
I am terribly sorry this happened to your family. I would consult with Legal Aid or hire a private attorney. It is my understanding that IEPs cannot be changed with parental consent.
I believe that you need local help. Each state has a parent training & information project. http://www.parentcenterhub.org/find-your-center/ They can also help you find your state disability rights agency.
