Cecelia: My son has epilepsy and was diagnosed in the spring of 2015 when he was in 7th grade. it took the district until the Spring of 2016, 2 months before 8th grade graduation, to actually get something going for him to help his situation. however no matter how much I tried to get him back on an IEP (he had been on an IEP from 1st – 5th grade) they would not do it. The only option they gave me was a 504 plan saying as he was going to be entering High School soon that was the best they could do.
Is this correct? I feel/see he needs way more help than what they have implemented for him on the 504 plan. How do I request better assistance at school when it comes to his education. I feel he is just falling behind as a Freshman and nothing is being done. We usually spend 2 hrs after school trying to assist as much as possible at home.
