Autism: NEW MISSOURI LAW PUTS STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES AT RISK

Share

Sarah:  I am trying to get support to change a Missouri law that goes into effect 1/1/17. This law makes it a felony to cause injury to another person, and school officials must report assault to the police. As the parent of a child with autism, this terrifies me. As a lawmaker, I am determined to change it, but I cannot make changes without support. I am reaching out to wrightslaw to get help in the form of letters and calls from parents to their legislators to change this, and possibly testimony. My official email is Sarah.unsicker@house.mo.gov, please feel free to contact my office about this. I would appreciate whatever support I can get.

  1. The article highlights the concerns and potential risks associated with a new Missouri law that could impact students with disabilities, including those with autism. It emphasizes the importance of advocating for the rights and educational needs of students with disabilities to ensure they receive appropriate support and accommodations. Thank you to Wrightslaw for shedding light on this issue and promoting awareness of the potential impact on students with autism and other disabilities.

  2. I have 3 children with developmental delays, 1 including ADHD. I’m worried this will definitely effect my children. What can I do to help stop this?
