Program Description
One-day special education law and advocacy programs focus on five
areas:
- special
education law, rights and responsibilities
- McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act
- tests
and measurements to measure progress & regression
- SMART
IEPs
- introduction
to tactics & strategies for effective advocacy
Wrightslaw
programs are designed to meet the needs of parents, educators,
health care providers, advocates and attorneys who represent children
with disabilities regarding special education. The program is not
disability specific.

Credits: 6.0 CLEs (continuing legal education) credits through the State Bar of Texas have been approved. CEUs (continuing education units) through the University of Houston, College of Education are available. The units are available for professionals with teaching credentials.
Refund Policy: Full refunds are provided up to 30 days prior to the conference.
Special Needs Accomodations: The University of Houston is a disabilities friendly campus. The Parking Structure and the Student Center have both ramps and elevators. For other accommodations, please inform the organizers 20 days in advance of the conference date.
Scholarships: Scholarships are not available for this conference.
Childcare: Childcare is not available for this conference
